First Burger Crush

Food • First Burger Crush • In-N-Out

Yes, people! I have never, never, never liked burgers until one hungry afternoon I said 'I want to try it' and from that point on this is the first burger that broke the rules of fast food for me (in a good way) I have to say, is not that I eat it everyday but just the fact that I keep eating it here and there or as a treat on Saturdays for lunch is just beyond my own mind. The reason I feel this way is because I rather have homemade food, not only because I was not raised to be eating out (not enough money for that) but because with homemade food you control what your body is receiving which I start to appreciate even more as I get older. So there you have it, I love In-N-Out!

Flowers of the Week

Flowers of the Week • Purple Flowers

I don't know the name of these beautiful tiny flowers and even though in person they are more purple than what the pic is showing { blue =/ } they are just so beautiful. Right now they are in the middle of my breakfast bar, bringing that pop of color to my kitchen area. Happy Sunday!

Pastelon de Potatoes

Food • Pastelon de Potatoes

Or as we call it in the Dominican Republic 'Pastelon de Papas'

This very delicious dish is a Dominican staple at least in my household. It is usually made when we have guests or just whenever you want to make your table look special. I love it and, now living in the Phoenix area, I make it very often so I don't feel I'm missing out on my Dominican food.

It is basically mashed potatoes, mixed with lots of butter and cheese, some milk to make the potatoes creamy, an egg or two depending on the size you are making and I add a can of cream style sweet corn and a can of mixed vegetables. The assembly of it is like a lasagna, so you put your first layer of the potato mix in the baking dish, then the filling can be ground beef or chicken or vegetables or whatever you feel like (sometimes I just put cheese on top of cheese, but that's just me) put your second layer of the potato mix and top it off with some shredded cheese. Since everything is already cooked, you put it in the oven for about 35 minutes or until golden. Enjoy!
